Horizons Casino are fully supportive of the principles of the Modern Slavery Act (MSA) and we are committed to the continuous improvement of our practices to better understand the risks and to combat all forms of slavery and human trafficking.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to trafficking and slavery and our Procurement Policy is being updated to formally reflect this commitment.
We have risk assessed our business and supply line and we consider our business to be low risk in terms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We have identified areas of increased risk in outsourced staff. We have also identified an increased risk around food and beverage raw materials sourced abroad by our predominantly UK suppliers.
We are committed to only work with suppliers who comply with the MSA and share our corporate values on modern slavery. As contracts renew, we will include contractual provisions to ensure compliance. Further due diligence and audit will be considered on a case by case basis depending on our risk assessment.
Organisations which fail to meet our standards will jeopardise their ability to continue to trade with Horizons Casino.
We employ approximately 180 staff and approximately 50 outsourced staff all of whom are based in the UK. We are committed to ensuring a safe working environment which is free from modern slavery and trafficking. We check that all employees have the right to work in the UK and ensure that we pay the national living wage.
We have specific policies in place which support our objectives. These include Dignity at Work, Harassment and Bullying, Recruitment and Whistle Blowing, all of which are available on the Hippodrome App, which all employees have access to. We encourage all staff to report any activity which they believe may be unlawful or in breach of the Hippodrome’s policies.
We expect outsourced staff to adhere to the same standards as employees and as contracts renew, we will include contractual provisions to ensure compliance. Further due diligence and audit will be considered on a case by case basis depending on our risk assessment.
Ultimate responsibility for MSA compliance sits with the Board of Directors. The Finance Director, who oversees both the Human Resource and Procurement functions, signs off the MSA Statement on behalf of the Board of Directors. The Heads of Procurement and Human Resources are aware of and understand their MSA responsibilities. Training has been undertaken across relevant
departments to ensure a high-level understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.
The Board of Directors has the ultimate responsibility for the implementation of the Horizon Casino’s policies, including those that relate to ethical trading and employee welfare.
Due to the overall low risk assessment we have not yet established any MSA Key Performance Indicators, however this remains under review.
Horizons Casino is making this statement pursuant to Section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This MSA Statement has been considered and approved by the Horizon’s Board of Directors.
